Travis' PhD work in the Bucker Lab was focused on building machine learning models to understand the impact of DNA variation on gene regulation. After graduating in 2024 he moved to Germany to bootstrap infrastructure for the genomDE Model Project at the University of Tübingen.
Research Interests:
I am interested in studying structural variation in maize using genome graphs and applying this work to help breeders quickly, cheaply, and efficiently genotype their progeny. I began my work with genome graphs and graph genotyping on A. thaliana during my Fulbright project in the Weigel Lab in Germany. Using the experience gained from this project, I am now helping the Buckler Lab Practical Haplotype Graph team to accomplish similar goals in maize.
