Research Interests:
I am a NSF Postdoctoral Fellow interested in how transposable elements, or “jumping genes", interact with plant genomes. My research focuses on understanding how transposable elements act to decrease maize fitness and yield, through a combination of computational, evolutionary, and quantitative genetic approaches. I am also working with Cedric Feschotte in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell.
Education:
• PhD. in Population Biology, University of California, Davis
• B.S. in Biology, University of Washington
• B.A. in Anthropology, University of Washington
