Research Interests:

I am interested in the understanding of non-coding regions in the genome and their role in the regulation of gene expression. I  would like to be able to score the variation of DNA sequence in non-coding regions for their potential to alter gene expression an impact observable phenotypes of interest for agriculture. To do so, I adapt machine learning approaches established in the Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision communities for the study of DNA sequences characterized with functional genomic experiments.
