What is GDPDM?

The Genomic Diversity and Phenotype Data Model (GDPDM) captures both Molecular and Phenotypic Diversity data. We have plans to use this model for a number of purposes including an in-house database, data upload tools, GDPC middleware. The main focus of this schema is to hold quantitative phenotypic data and molecular genotypic data. This data may be the product of QTL mapping, an association study, breeding efforts, or germplasm evaluation. We have borrowed heavily from the Panzea schema and Jens Riis's Challenge Program Whitepaper.

You will note that this schema does not try to produce detailed schemas for ontologies, locus and marker tables, or passport data. These are all better handled with existing or currently being developed schemas. We provide tables merely to work with these other schemas.

While this project has been lead by the Buckler Lab, many people and groups (i.e. Panzea, Gramene, GrainGenes, etc.) have contributed feedback regarding its design.
